El jardín, the way it flows off the tongue is so nice, garden is nice too but not so nice.
San Pedro, Wachuma, cactus

The first additions from me, San Pedro cactus, also known as wachuma. Not only my first personal additions to the community other than labour but also the first actual medicinal plants rather than naturopathic/anecdotal medicines here.
Understanding terminology, go back to the other chapters, San Pedro is a drug, and it is a drug first. Then, second it is medicine. Again, all medicines are drugs but not all drugs are medicine. Drug defined as any chemical substance other than a nutrient or essential dietary ingredient which produces a biological effect.
All your other stuff are not medicines, they are naturopathic or anecdotal substances, nothing more. We feel better when taking them because they simply add something to our diet which is missing, probably one of many things for most of you, or, more likely, because of the placebo affect.
Back to San Pedro being the first medicinal plant here, not quite true, there are two already which have been chopped almost to the ground and are not looking great. They’ll grow back in time but not time enough for me to start experimenting.
San Pedro will grow big, soon enough they will litter the border here beautifully, and will provide one of the beautiful medicines required to do the healing work for free; that’s free for you to attend, and free after an initial investment for me to administer and support you in.
Have a couple of cannabis seeds and mushroom spores are coming this week too. Mushrooms will also be found in random places around the property, both the plastic container growing way and other more natural experiments.
Finding the spores quickly was a great thing too, hard to find psychedelic mushrooms here, and when one does they are expensive, more so than Australia. So, to be able to grow them, supply them and play around with them yourself, myself, whoeverself, is fantastic.
Mushrooms, dry ones, of course I bought some, have to give them a go before supplying to others and waiting six to eight weeks for them to grow is a long way away!
Cannabis, we’ll start growing these in a little bit, they are more complicated to get right but we’ll get it right together. San Pedro, mushrooms, and cannabis, being able to grow these three plants will give you the basic foundation for a successful whatever-you-choose-to-grow garden.
We may grow other stuff too, shit that I love. Which is all we are doing here anywhere, starting by growing the stuff I love the most and then we’ll add the next in line stuff. Keep it fun, personal, and therefore interesting and you’ll succeed.
So, in el jardín we’ll grow some great stuff together, and then in the cooking chapter we’ll prepare it for human consumption, make sure everyone knows the process from paddock to plate. Growing your own foods and medicines ensures that you can keep every one safe, medicine providers anyway, and you can show your guests exactly where what they are consuming came from. Beautiful BEAUTIFUL addition to any space, healing or not.
San Pedro, these things are simple to grow from cuttings. They need a lot of sun, full sun, a drenching of water every now and then, good drainage in the soil and in the growing months, around summer, additional nutrients added to the soil will help them to thrive.
Another great thing about San Pedro Aussies, well all cacti from the information I have, is that they are legal to grow, no restrictions. So, you can plant a whole field and have a life supply of beautiful BEAUTIFUL medicine at your finger tips.
Really, just simple stuff. Mushrooms we come to next most likely, almost as equally simple while requiring a little more care and technicality, but, you get it right and you’ll have mushroom supplies for life too.
